Visual and Performing Arts Major, Mass Communication Major
The mission of the School of Communication Arts is to produce professionals in the field of mass media, performing and film arts, armed with faith and the Christian worldview, prepared to work for the recovery of human culture as God's good creation. The primary focus is to criticize contemporary mass culture, raise Christian experts in media and culture, and ultimately create an alternative Christian culture.
Curriculum
The curriculum offers specialized training in Performing Arts and Visual Communication, the new language of the 21st century, including education in mass media. In other words, specialized training is given in journalism and broadcasting for the press as well as advertising and promotions for the media industry. The school aims to produce experts in drama and film fit for the future multi-media environment. The program is an integrated program rather than distinctly separating the majors while still keeping the expertise of the Performance and Film Arts majors. Integrating with education in Mass Media allows students to acquire knowledge of Communication Theory as well as get hands-on training to cultivate abilities to utilize drama and film communication methods with a more practical focus.
Career Prospects
Graduates have been active in various aspects of the media industry, in both Christian media and secular media, broadcasting, advertising, PR, film, performance planning, theater, publishing, media, civic groups, church media teams, and graduate programs. The school’s integrated, practical training in media communication offers graduates competitiveness as they enter a multi-media environment where interconnected knowledge of media has high added value, letting them become better prepared for creating an alternative culture.
