Handong and Gyeongsang Bukdo Province jointly hosted ‘Gyeongsang Bukdo Province Two Koreas Economic Cooperation) Form’ for the first time.
The forum was held in All Nations Hall on Handong campus. The forum was joined by staff members from HGU, Gyeongsanbuk do Province area, as well as vice president of POSCO Kim Hak-Dong, and Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology, Handong students, and general staff members of Handong.
Kicking off the opening, Professor Jung Jin HO in charge of Korea Reunification center on Handong gave a briefing on the objectives of the forum and plans in the future. And he also remarked, “The goal of us forum committee members is to come with a specific task for economic cooperation between two Koreas based on the geographical and industrial characteristics of Gyeongsang Bukdo Province.
On this appointment ceremony, the head of each 4 committees and 37 number of committee members were appointed, and they will serving on Education Resources Development Division , Humanities and Cultural Promotion Division, Small and Medium-sized Venture Businesses Interchange Division and Marine Fisheries Industry Development
37 committee members of each divisions include professionals with specialty in each area, and they will initiate its steps to prepare for two Korea cooperation’s with specific goals in Gyeongsang Bukdo Province.
In an inauguration speech of the forum, President Soon-Heung Chang remarked, “We are beginning this forum with expectation for the future in which two Koreas can see each other in One-East-Sea. Although there still remain unresolved tasks, we will have to continue hoping for the economic cooperation of two Koreas via rail roads, water roads of the East sea, and sky roads which will bridge Gyeongsang Province, Gangwon area and Hamgyong Province. ”In addition, President Chang requested committee members for close cooperation with grave responsibility.
Also, the chairman of Kaesong Industrial Zone Kim Jin Hyang held a special lecture on ‘Kaesong Industrial Zone and Peace Economy of the Korean Peninsula.’ The chairman Kim urged upon resolving commonly held misunderstanding towards North Korea to advance the era of Two Koreas Economic Cooperation. And she also added, economic cooperation of two Koreas will have to be further advanced from divided economies to Peace economy.
