Handong Global University (HGU – President Chang Soon-Heung) is actively starting to get involved in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

On the 21^st of this month, HGU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) for the purposes of establishing an mutual business cooperation.

The conclusion of the MoU, which was held in the Conference Room of the Hyundong Hall, was attended by HGU’s President Chang and faculty, the Director of RIST and other RIST executives.

In accordance to this MoU, both institutions are to ▲ cooperatively research for the practical applicability of thefields ofAI, Big Data, and Internet of Things (IoT) ▲ uncover cutting-edge research projects in preparation of the 4^thIndustrial Revolution ▲joint-host seminars, forums, academic competitions, etc. and offer mutual technical support ▲provide mutual cooperation in any other situations requiring mutual cooperation.

At the MoU signing, President Chang remarked, “We wish for a prolonged cooperative partnership with RIST.” President Chang also added that “the importance of AI in the future is a very well-known fact. Who first dominates in this field is critical” and that “It is crucial to quickly comprehend what the issues of the AI era are. I believe that students will be better able to catch this issues. Accordingly, it is important that we quickly find such issues and cooperatively resolve them.”

The Director Yoo Sung of RIST expressed his thoughts saying, “I am aware that Handong Global University is already attempting many things in the field of AI, especiallyproducing excellence research results in the area of AI algorithms. Because Handong Global University has already shown great skill in the field of AI, I believe this cooperation with Handong Global University will be a big supporting strength.”
