Handong Global University (President Soon Heung Chang) opened Shalom Center (Sexual harassment•sexual violence report center) for sexual harassment and violence counseling, and prevention and fostering of healthy sex culture in Handong Global University
President Soon-Heung Chang, Pastor Wan-Jin Kim, professors, faculties, and students participated the opening ceremony of Shalom Center held on December 4th to congratulate.
President Soon-Heung Chang emphasized the reason behind opening Shalom Center in the opening ceremony speech “Sex problems should follow God’s teachings to grow and flourish. Most importantly, sex problems are directly linked to life. The history of GOd is the history of life. President Chang added “Prevention is more important than solving of sex problems.” And “Through advertisement and education, let’s make a cultural movement interested and participated by all members of the school.”
“We hope that the Shalom Center will not only meet the demand of the era for creating heatlhy sex culture in university, but will further contribute to the Shalom of God within Handong Global University, the creation of next generation Christian leader with character, intelligence and spirituality,” said Hye-Jung Kim, director of the Shalom Center.
In addition, Professor Hwa-Chul Son of the School of Global Leadership at Handong Global University prayed that the Shalom Center could be used by all members of Handong as a way to enjoy the peace and joy of the God with courage and wisdom to sympathize with the pain of the weak and rebuke the evil within Handong Global University.
The Shalom Center will be in charge of sexual harassment and violence prevention , reporting, previously handled by Student Counseling Center, and of establishment of policiies accordingly. And will carry out professional support such as education, research, and promotion for the creation of a Christian sex culture.
