Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) received the ‘Inchon Award in Field of Education’ at ‘The 34th Inchon Award Ceremony’ held at the Lotte Hotel of Jung-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon of October 8th.
The Inchon Memorial Foundation and Dong-A Ilbo announced that they have selected the award for Handong Global University, as they have highly sought the achievements of Handong Global University as a ‘Well-Teaching University’, in focus to knowledge, character, and spirituality.
At the Award Ceremony, Handong Global University was presented with a Gift Plaque, Commemorative Medal, and Prize of 100 million Korean won (approximately USD 90,000).

Through this award, Handong Global University has been recognized for its ‘工’ shaped education model, along with the type of talent that embraces the educational philosophy of the Late President Young-Gil Kim. Handong was evaluated for its Christian Educational Philosophy which, through prioritizing the education of knowledge, character, and spirituality, impacted the higher education of Korea by being the first among universities within the Republic of South Korea to launch ‘Independent Self-Guided Study Semester’ and ‘Handong International Law School’.
In particular, Handong Global University has been recognized for the achievement in boldly introducing innovative educational methods despite the short 25-year history after establishment, confirmed through the receiving of the highest level (A-Level) in University Structural Reform Evaluation and University Innovation Support Operation.

At the award ceremony, President Soon-Heung Chang delivered the receiving remarks: “Handong Global University, through its education innovation, such as the unsupervised honor exam program, convergence education between majors, admission program with undecided majors and others, is bearing positive results by presenting a new model of University Education.” He added, “We will continue to work hard in training talented people to serve the world through educational innovation.”
