Handong Global University (President Chang) Handong International Law School students, Jihye Choi, Jiwon Chae and Moonhwan Cho won the 12th International Humanitarian Moot Court Competition.
This year’s competition was hosted by both the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Ministry of Justice and was supported by the Department of Defense. The purpose of this competition was to reaffirm the importance of Humanitarian Law through legal approaches by debating over the application of the humanitarian issues arising from wartime similar situations.
Student Jihye Choi was rewarded two prizes including 1st place of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition and the “Best Oralist” prize.
The winners of Handong International Law School team is planned to participate in the Asia-Pacific International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition that will be held next year in March as the representative of South Korea.

“I do not regard that the award was given to me as an individual but was given to all my teammates that have participated and furthermore to Handong International Law School. Through this opportunity, I was able to experience the importance and influence of international humanitarian law and was able to expand my knowledge. Thank you to all my team members and professors that have helped me and furthermore, thank you to all people who have encouraged and supported us through prayer
Professor Hee-eon Lee, who coached the team, has also thanked the faculty of Handong International Law School, saying, “I am happy to have achieved good results based on oral defense classes taught at school.”
Handong International Law school has solidified a strong image in field of international law through last year’s 11th International Humanitarian Moot Court Competition that was held in September.
Handong International Law School is the one an only law school in Korea that conducts U.S Law and International Law lectures based on the U.S law school curriculum. 70% of the graduate students have passed the U.S Bar exam and is actively engaged in both domestic and foreign legal fields.
