Handong Global University Holds Online and Offline Joint Seminar with Indonesia UNKRISWINA University on Agricultural Development

- Sharing agricultural development cases and business strategies from each country; Korea, Indonesia, and Russia

- Seeking ways to cooperate between the regions of Korea, ASEAN and Africa. (30 KOIKA master's degree students from the Graduate School of International Development at Handong Global University attended)

 

Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang), UNESCO UNITWIN Business Organization held an "online joint seminar on agriculture and community development" with Indonesia UNKRISWINA University from the 20th to the 21st at the 'The K' Hotel in Gyeongju.

 

This seminar was conducted through a combination of video conferences and on-field seminars, sharing Korea's rural development experiences and discussing future community development business projects for developing countries.

 

About 10 experts attended the seminar, including Professor Ja-Mun Koo from Handong Global University's Department of Space Environment Systems Engineering, Professor James Davis from the Graduate School of International Law, CEO Ik-Jae Lee of Yeongnam Economic Daily, CEO Ha-kyu Lim of North East, Researcher Davashi from POSTECH Design Intelligence Laboratory, and the President of UNKRISWINA University along with Professor Indri and Professor Salmon.

 

30 KOICA master's degree students from the Graduate School of International Development in Handong Global University attended this seminar to explore ways to expand cooperation between Korea, ASEAN and African countries that is linked to  Korea's Saemaeul Movement.

 

Professor Ja-Mun Koo of Handong Global University discussed the potential applicability of the Saemaeul Movement in developing countries, and Professor Indri of UNKRISWINA University, Indonesia, presented about the welfare programs and a system to strengthen the sustainable social safety net.

 

In addition, various sessions were held, including Pohang's urban redevelopment project, Indonesia's regional development project on the island of Sumba, and cases of agricultural development of large companies in Russia.

 

"The agricultural development is one of the most powerful tools to end extreme poverty, so the growth of the agricultural sector is very important in the economic growth of developing countries. The developing experiences and regional development cases in Korea that are presented in the seminar will be very helpful to students of developing countries," said Professor Ja-Mun Koo of Handong Global University.

"This seminar was a very meaningful time not only to know Korea's development cases but also to explore the balanced development of urban and rural areas by sharing about the community development projects of Sumba Island. I hope that this school will further produce great entrepreneurs through continuous exchanges between the two universities." said President Nolina of UNKRISWINA University, Indonesia.

 

Meanwhile, Handong Global University will regularly interact with Indonesia, Nepal, Vietnam, and Mongolia and continue to hold joint research projects and symposiums to speed up university capacities of developing countries.
