Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang)’s Team Greedi and LnP of SW Focused University was awarded the Excellency Award in both the Preliminary Entrepreneurship League and Public League during the ‘2020 Daegu-Gyeongbuk Online Start-Up Festival’ on November 24^th, 2020.

This festival was co-hosted by Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Office of SMEs and Startups along with the Entrepreneurship Support Group of Daegu University. This was held to host Online Field Entrepreneurship Idea Contests to display the excellency of start-ups in Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and report results of entrepreneurial support.

In this festival, Team Greedi (Members: Sung-Young Moon, So-Eun Kim, Ju-Hee Song, and Da-Hyun Jeong) was awarded the Excellency Award in the Preliminary Entrepreneurship Contest for ‘A Bite of Code – Coding Education Application based on AI’. Meanwhile, Team LnP (Members: Won-Pyo Hong, Ye-Chan Lim, Eun-Song Choi, Sung-A Woo, Jung-Heon Lee) was awarded the Excellency Award in Public League for ‘Brainmo – A Game to Program My Own AI Character’.

Handong Global University features good results in various entrepreneurship contests and competitions. This includes the Grand Prize (Minister of Science & ICT Award) in the ‘2019 Public ICT Idea, R&D Planning Contest’, Grand Prize (Award of 10 Million Won) in the ‘2019 Korea Contest for Entrepreneurship Ideas in Kids Design’, First Place in ‘2019 Social Venture Regional Contest’, and Superior Award in the ‘7^th Culture Data-Use Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Based on these results, Handong Global University has been selected for various support operations. They were selected 4 times for the K-startup Preliminary Entrepreneurship Package, 2 times for the  Public Technology-Based Market-Related Startup Investigation Support Project (I-Corps) and 1 time for the Strong-Small Research Research Special Zone Innopolis Campus Support Project. Through these projects, cumulative amount of awards and support funds total over 300 million won.

Professor Sung-Bae Cho from School of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Director of Entrepreneurial Support Office of Handong Global University’s SW Focused University, and also the Guiding Professors of these selected teams said, “Start-ups that need to actualize business items rapidly and change frequently should learn the latest technology, something not taught through traditional methods in University normally.” He added, “Handong Global University, not only hosts Design Sprint-based camps from Google Ventures, but also educates Flutter Framework, Firebase Cloud and Material Design through educational and non-educational methods.”

Handong Global University spares no expense and offers year-round education to students that wish to walk the path of entrepreneurship by offering such education through the Design Sprint Camp, Entrepreneurship Capstone Project, Software Factory, Entrepreneurship S-Lab, IT Entrepreneurship Academy ‘Venturers’, Independent Self-Guided Study Semester on Entrepreneurship, and hosts Entrepreneurship Contests.

Handong Global University, is drawing attention to how much more result they can perform through the re-structuring of Entrepreneurship Education through SW Focused University.
