Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) UNESCO UNITWIN Business Group held an on-offline joint seminar on 'Upgrading Community and Urban Environment' with Mongolia International University from the 19th to the 20th.
About 50 students from Mongolia International University and Handong Global University attended the seminar through ZOOM, aiming to share strategies and projects to improve the urban environment of major cities of each country.
The seminar was attended by about 10 experts: Honorary Professor Ja-mun Gu and Professor Seo Deok-soo of the School of Spatial and Environmental Engineering, and Professor James Davis of Handong International Law School, President Lee Mi-sook of Mongolia International University, Director Huh Chang of Young-ilman Wind Power, and Director Lim Ha-gyu of NorthEast. The seminar held lectures on various topics such as the overview of the current status of cities and strategies for improving urban environment in each country.
Professor Ja-mun Gu of the School of Spatial and Environmental Engineering, Handong University said, "It is important for cities to develop together with and based on local communities. As students from both countries learn about various regional development cases, such as Korea, Mongolia, and Vietnam, and understand the diverse and tolerant developmental policies of each local society, I hope this knowledge will be helpful in their career path and future endeavors."
President Kwon Oh-moon of Mongolia International University said, "This seminar was a very beneficial opportunity to expand the perspective of our students through the cases of urban development in Korea. In the future, we will do our best to continue cooperative academic opportunities to strengthen the capabilities of this school through the exchange of knowledge between the two universities.”
Meanwhile, Handong University regularly interacts with Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Nepal through the UNESCO UNITWIN Project's 'Upgrading Community and Urban Environment' program and conducts joint research projects and symposiums to improve the urban environment.
