Completion Ceremony of the Green Power Cheoram Power Plant

(Taebaek = Yonhap News) Reporter Yeonho Bae = The completion ceremony of the Green Science Cheoram Power Plant was held on March 31st on the site in Cheoram-dong, Taebaek, Gangwon province.
Constructed through a 25 billion won project investment from Green Power Co., LTD, this is the world’s first 3 MW plasma gasification power plant to commercialize microwave plasma technology.
This is a compound power generation method that utilizes both steam and gas, and the production of 3MW will provide energy for 7,500 households per year.
The power plant may also produce 600 kg of hydrogen per day.
Gangwon Province is developing the green hydrogen energy industry as a sustainable, future growth engine that will replace the coal industry.
To this end, Gangwon Province is planning to invest a total of 277.2 billion won by 2025 to substantiate the new technology of producing green hydrogen using plasma and establish the first plasma green hydrogen cluster in Korea in the area of Taebaek City.
Gangwon Province expects that the development of a plasma green hydrogen cluster will lay the foundation for Taebaek City to take a leap forward by attracting 30 corporations, creating jobs for 500 people, and nurturing 1,000 professionals.
