An article on the Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training Program of Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) and the UNESCO UNITWIN Project was published in the Academic Impact News of the UN Department of Public Information on April 9th.
In an article named ‘Handong Narrowing the Education Gap in Rwanda,’ the UN Department of Public Information extensively covered Handong Global University’s Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training Program, which is taking a leading role in nurturing innovative, talented individuals who will drive the growth and development of developing countries despite the educational crisis caused by COVID-19.
The UN Academic Impact News said that Handong Global University has successfully responded to the current crisis in higher education “by actively converting main education training, such as Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training Programs, into non-face-to-face programs in response to the crisis of COVID-19.” Additionally, the University has provided necessary equipment in cooperation with higher education institutions of developing countries.

In particular, Handong Global University’s response to the urgent request from an educational institution in Rwanda, whose offline classes were suspended due to COVID-19, and its ability to capture the local institution’s weak points and necessities through effective teleconferences were positively noted. Additionally, it was evaluated that the digital information gap in Rwanda was resolved and higher education reinforced through various means of remote support, such as online education programs.
Ramu Damodaran, Chief of the UN Academic Impact, stated, “The UNITWIN Project of Handong Global University, which started since 2010, has become a world-class example, and its achievements in the area of higher education so far is a great role model for us.”
Until now, Handong Global University has conducted a total of 27 entrepreneurship training programs in Africa (Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Rwanda), Asia (Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam), the Pacific Rim (Papua New Guinea), and South America (Peru) to work with future global leaders and entrepreneurs.

Additionally, the University has established a joint education curriculum with universities in Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan to continue educational cooperation and long-term talent development.
In the future, Handong Global University plans to provide e-journal remote support and an IoT technology camp to provide programs that strengthen the capabilities of Handong and Rwandan youth. Additionally, Handong will further accelerate the cultivation of future entrepreneurs despite the COVID-19 crisis by conducting online Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training programs for foreign students in Peru, Cameroon, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Korea.
