Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) announced that an alumni, Young-chan Park (age of 29, School of International Relations and Language and Literature), passed the final round of the 2020 Diplomat Selection Exam.
Young-chan Park started to study at Handong Global University in 2009 and majored in international area studies and economics.
Mr. Park said, "As I was taking international relations courses during my university years, I was fascinated by the profession of a diplomat which allows you to mediate between countries and contribute to international peace. I felt the importance of diplomacy and prepared for the exam for 5 years at Shillim-dong, a village for those preparing for examinations. Then I finally passed the exam."
He also said, "During my university years, I participated in the International Politics Academic Society, Model United Nations, and Community Leadership Training. These various experiences became a great help as I was taking the second major exam and the third-round interview exam. If any Handong students dream of becoming diplomats, I encourage you to take heart and give it a try.”
He also showed his ambition by saying, "I will make genuine efforts to complete the diplomat candidate education by December this year, be appointed as a diplomat, and contribute to Korean reunification as well as building a peaceful East-Asian society. I will continue learning and studying to become an excellent diplomat."
