Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) announced that Damir Kusen, the Croatian Ambassador to South Korea, visited the school on the 18th to visit President Soon-Heung Chang and hold a special lecture for students of Handong Global University.
Ambassador Kusen explained Croatia’s national branding and economic development centered on the tourism industry and the trend and direction of the tourism industry after COVID-19 under the title of ‘Korea-Croatia Cooperation Plan in the Changing International Environment of the Post-COVID Era.’
He particularly emphasized how the increase in the number of Korean tourists due to the influence of the media has had an impact on the development of relations between Croatia and Korea and talked about the importance of the tourism industry as soft power diplomacy means to contribute to global understanding and peace.
Harim Shin, a student who participated in this special lecture, said, “I was able to understand how tourism works as a part of diplomacy. It was a meaningful time as we were able to discuss in detail how the tourism industry can be used realistically to form a network of various countries around the world through QnA with students from the Graduate School of Global Development and Entrepreneurship.”
Ambassador Kusen has served as the first Croatian Ambassador to South Korea since the Croatian Embassy opened in 2018.
Meanwhile, Handong Global University has been conducting student exchange programs with 51 universities in 18 European countries and plans to promote cooperation with Croatian universities in the future.
