International Area Research Center of Handong Global University (President Do Soung Choi) holds ‘2022 Northeast Asia Conference on Peace and Unification of the Korean Peninsula as a venue for exchange and discussion for young people around the world with the support of the Unification and Sharing Foundation.
In this conference, 22 young people from 11 countries, including North Korea (North Korean defectors), South Korea, France, Brunei, India, USA, Taiwan, China, and Switzerland, will hold a real-time English debate on the theme of peace in Northeast Asia and unification of the Korean Peninsula. The event, which will be held for the second time at Handong Global University following last year, is expected to serve as a forum for exchanges and communication, as well as hearing the thoughts of next-generation youth leaders responsible for the future of Northeast Asia and the Korean Peninsula.
According to the results of the 2022 Unification Awareness Survey of Korean adult men and women conducted by the Institute for Peace and Unification Studies at Seoul National University and Gallup Korea, the positive perception of the necessity of unification has been on the rise over the past three years, but it has been revealed that there were concerns about the burden of military affairs, political and military confusion, and social confusion such as unemployment and crime. The event will be held amid the need for sufficient discussion on various issues arising in the unification process, adding significant meaning of this conference.
Min Ho Ma, Director of Handong International Research Institute, said, “Youth activities such as this conference are expected to help spread international consensus for the unification of the Korean Peninsula and peace in Northeast Asia. I hope you will encourage and support these young people who will lead the next generation.”
This event will be held on November 26th 3:00 P.M. at All Nations Hall of Handong Global University, and real-time YouTube broadcasting will be provided for those who have difficulty participating in the field (search for Unification Sketch at YouTube). Inquiries: Joo Seong Kim 010-4077-3535
