Handong Global University (President Do Soung Choi), which won the Inchon Award and the POSCO Cheongam Education Award for the first time in Korea and recognized as a university with fine education, will start recruiting regular admission for 2023 from the 29th (Thursday). Students are selected from all departments regardless of major, and it is operated as 100% autonomous major selection that allows students to freely choose their major according to their will when entering the second year. This year, 35 students will be selected through regular round, and students from rural areas and equal opportunity round will be selected outside the quota. The method for calculating scores is in the order of grades by adding the conversion score for Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Science/Natural Science areas and the additional points for Korean history. The reflection rate for each part is 35% in Korean, 35% in Math, 20% in English, 10% in one of social/scientific area, and Korean history is reflected as an additional score by grade. A 10% additional point is given when selecting mathematics (integral) or mathematics (geometry).

The deadline for admission is 6 P.M. on January 2, 2023 (Monday), and the announcement of the final successful candidates is on January 20th (Fri), and the announcement of additional successful candidates is on February 16th.

The school is well known for its student-centered academic system, which allows students to choose and change majors according to their will, and for its educational internationalization where foreign students from 41 countries around the world come and study. Many graduates have already entered the global stage in 150 cities in 90 countries and are actively working. As of 2021, the university ranks first in the enrollment rate of 4-year universities nationwide, and the student dropout rate is about 2.3%, which is considered one of the universities with high educational satisfaction.

Professor Min Ho Ma, Head of Admissions at Handong Global University, said, “Handong Global University is located in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, but it is a global university with 31.7% of students from Seoul, Incheon, and the Gyeonggi metropolitan area and 12.8% from abroad enrolling. The ratio of English lectures is 39.1% and excellent internationalization programs such as exchange student programs are provided. Although the preference of enrolling universities in metropolitan area is intensifying, students in the region can receive high-quality education without moving into metropolitan area.
