- Working as the director of the Institute for Unification and Peace at Handong Global University, Professor Song devoted himself to unification-related advice, research, and education.
Professor In-Ho Song from the School of Law of Handong Global University (President Do Soung Choi) received a commendation from the Minister of Unification on December 31st in recognition of his contribution to the development of unification affairs.

The professor has served as an advisor to several departments within the Ministry of Unification, including as a member of the Unification Law and Regulation Promotion Committee, Self-Regulatory Review Committee, North Korea Human Rights Records Center’s North Korean Human Right Investigation Advisory Committee, the Information Disclosure Deliberation Committee, and the Education Committee. In addition to the Ministry of Unification, he has also served as a standing member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Democracy and Peace (Peace Legislative Subcommittee), a legislative support member of the National Assembly (Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee), a member of the Ministry of Justice’s Legal Advisory Committee (North-South Legal Research Special Subcommittee, a member of the National Human Rights Commission’s North Korean Human Rights Forum, and a member of the Korea Legislation Research Institute’s Unification Law Forum, providing advice on unification-related matters in various field of government and private sectors. He received a commendation from the Minister of Justice in December 2019 in recognition of his achievements.
Professor Song, who passed the 45th Judicial Examination in 2003, worked as a lawyer in a law firm before being appointed as a professor in the School of Law at Handong Global University in 2011. During his time as a lawyer, he served as a member of the North Korean Defectors Legal Support Committee of the Korean Bar Association and as a human rights committee member of the Seoul Bar Association, providing legal counseling and lectures for North Korean defectors. He also obtained a doctoral degree on the topic of unification law.
Professor In-Ho Song from the School of Law of Handong Global University, who won the commendation, said , “ In 10 to 20 years, when Jangmadang generation of North Korea and the MZ generation of South Korea become the mainstay of our society, inter-Korean relations will be different from now. I will continue to strive for research and education in preparation for the unification era, where the dignity of all North and South Korean citizens is guaranteed has human beings.”
