As part of the UNESCO UNITWIN project, Handong Global University (President Do-Soung Choi) held ‘Data Analytics Camp’ for the students in Cambodian university at the Handong-ASEAN Start-up & Innovation Center located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 13th to the 17th of this month.

This camp focused on big data, artificial intelligence (AI), regression analysis, and simulation data analysis methods for five days in morning, and afternoon sessions. The enthusiasm for acquiring data analysis skills was so passionate that more than 260 local college students pre-registered from the recruitment of camp. Pin Richard, a student from Panasatra University who participated in the camp, said, “It was a time to meet students with same passion, form a good network, and gain knowledge to share with freshman who had no chance to take the camp.” Another student from the National Business School named Kane Lysang said, “I’m working to support female entrepreneurs, and the data analysis technology I learned at the camp helped me a lot in my career.”

In order to respond to the 4th industrial revolution, developing countries such as Cambodia need capabilities related to the use of data and the application of digital technology, but there is an absolute lack of professional teaching staff and practice equipment. Handong Global University provides necessary education to students of Cambodian universities through the UNESCO UNITWIN program, and strives to strengthen the construction of major books and educational infrastructure in Cambodian universities.

Although it was an intensive 6 hour camp schedule over 5 days, 71 local university students (National Business University, Panasastra University, Life University, Royal Law School, Royal University of Phnom Penh, National Technical University, etc.) participated and gave a high acclaim.

Meanwhile, Handong Global University has visited the Royal College of Agriculture, the Royal College of Law and Economics, and Panasastra University to discuss joint curriculums with the President and Head of the department to review cooperative programs and devise ways to develop them.
