On April 20th, a ceremony for the presentation of the "1st Hogu Fund" took place at the
Office of the President at Handong University.
The Hogu Fund is a fund that was formed through voluntary fundraising activities by Professor Jeong-min Lee (School of Life Science) and students who worked together in teams called Hogu 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from Professor Lee's appointment in 2019 until 2022.
During the ceremony, Professor Lee stated that the ultimate goal of the Hogu Fund is to support African missions and domestic orphanage work (unprotected adults who need to leave the orphanage upon reaching adulthood). The 1st fund, created on this occasion, was decided to be donated to the university's development fund, according to the wishes of team members who wanted it to be used for a more special purpose for the school.
A total of 86 students who were part of Professor Lee's team over the past four years participated in the formation of the fund. Currently, they are making their own contributions to Handong Global University as graduates, current students, and faculty members.
President Dosoung Choi expressed his gratitude for the fund, which was established through the voluntary participation of students. He also expressed his anticipation for the work that God will do through the Hogu Fund in African missions and domestic orphanage activities.
