On the 19th of last month, Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi) organized a business model camp to enhance the capacity for the next-generation global entrepreneurship spirit. Held at the Blueone Resort in Gyeongju for a duration of one night and two days, the camp brought together 37 students from 14 countries worldwide, who derived innovative ideas using AI. This camp was conducted as a special program to enhance international development cooperation in regions including South Korea, Nepal, Laos, Russia, Malaysia, Mongolia, the United States, Spain, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Papua New Guinea.
The students, who were visiting Gyeongju for the first time, had the chance to explore five prominent UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Gyeongju Historic Areas, such as Cheomseongdae (Observatory), Anapji Pond, and Daereungwon Tomb Complex. This immersive experience was made possible through the Cultural Heritage Portal of the Cultural Heritage Administration, which utilized a mixed-reality platform. Additionally, they engaged in interactive communication using generative AI and the Padlet board, further enriching their understanding of Korean culture both online and offline.
In this program, the basic concepts of business models were discussed through Slido, and practical exercises were conducted to further develop them using ChatGPT, Canva AI, and Google Jamboard. Some students, already equipped with an understanding of AI literacy gained through their classes, immersed themselves even more in the process.
Professor Hanjin Yi from the School of Creative Convergence Education, who led the camp, expressed his aspirations, saying, "It was incredibly rewarding to see students from Africa, Europe, and Asia coming together to create a business canvas for establishing an ESG startup valley and engaging in collaborative discussions. With these achievements, Handong Global University, as a glocal university, will strive to actively serve as a bridge connecting the vision of the local community and the international society."
Dmitriy Yugay, a 23-year-old student from Uzbekistan, who participated in the camp, expressed his impressions, saying, "Amidst the rapidly changing global business environment, it was fascinating to collaborate with friends from 14 different countries at Handong Global University to develop AI-based glocal innovation. I would like to share this experience with my university colleagues back in my home country through the utilization of the Zoom workshop.”
