The 2023 INCHE Asia-Oceania Conference, which took place at Handong Global University from the 20th (Tuesday) to the 22nd (Thursday), was concluded successfully with the participation of over 150 people from 14 countries.
The International Network for Christian Higher Education (INCHE) is a Christian higher education network headquartered in the United States. Every year, it organizes an international academic conference for higher education professionals and Christian scholars from around the world to come together and promote the development of Christian higher education. This year, the conference was hosted by Handong Global University and focused on exploring the identity of Christian scholars and the community formed by scholars and higher education professionals who share the same identity. The conference included lectures, case presentations, and discussions on this theme.
The keynote speaker of this event was Dr. J. Richard Middleton, who is responsible for Christian worldview and biblical exegesis at Northeastern Seminary and Roberts Wesleyan College. He delivered two lectures on the theme of "The Vision of Christians in Higher Education." The main schedule included a daily communal activity called the "Public Reading of Scripture," where all participants gathered together to read and reflect on the Bible. Additionally, 44 presenters conducted presentations and Q&A sessions on various subtopics. Participants from diverse countries such as the United States, Australia, South Africa, and India shared their respective cases and experiences during the conference.
Dr. J. Richard Middleton expressed his reflections on the conference, stating, "Thanks to the participants from around the world, this event provided a deep experience of diversity, and it served as an important opportunity not only for scholarly discussions but also for sharing how to apply the knowledge and insights gained in our lives.
President Dosoung Choi of Handong Global University, the host of the event, expressed his hopes, saying, "Through this opportunity, I hope that we have affirmed our identity as Christian scholars and educators and have made progress in building a genuine community. I sincerely wish that the emotions and joy we experienced during the conference go beyond mere enjoyment and lead to true transformation in our lives."
