Handong Global University's UNESCO UNITWIN project unit hosted an international academic conference from November 3rd to 4th, focusing on the theme "Learning, Digitalization, and Social Sustainability." Co-organized with the Academic Society of Global Business Administration (ASGBA), the Korean Society of Project Management (KSPM), and the Academic Society of Appropriate Technology, the conference took place over two days at the Best Western Premier Gangnam Hotel and Hanyang University.

President Dosoung Choi of Handong Global University expressed the significance of the event in his keynote speech, stating that “this conference would be a platform for exchanging ideas and insights not only to address educational disparities but also to diagnose and solve various challenges.”

The conference brought together over 30 high-ranking officials and professors from 10 developing countries participating in Handong Global University's UNESCO UNITWIN project. Participants from diverse nations such as Nepal, Laos, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Rwanda shared research and cases from their respective countries. Presentations covered topics such as △ sustainable energy, △ fair trade and business models, △ sustainable tourism and theme parks, △ improvements in the education system, and △ sustainable social models through waste management. The subsequent discussion and question-and-answer sessions facilitated an enriching exchange of thoughts.

Professor Lelisa from Jakarta International University in Indonesia remarked, "This event provided an opportunity to see how different countries approach and deal with social issues." Professor Bahizi from the Polytechnic University of Rwanda noted that the feedback and opinions from other participating professors after the research presentations would contribute to solving issues within Rwanda and improving institutions.

This conference marked the first on-site event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research and cases presented will be featured in a special topic of the Academic Society of Appropriate Technology.

As part of the UNESCO UNITWIN project, Handong Global University engages in a collaborative education program, exchanging education programs with universities and graduate schools in developing countries to enhance the capabilities of students and professors. Through the "Entrepreneurship Training," the university is nurturing entrepreneurs and leaders who can lead economic development in developing countries. Additionally, the "Entrepreneurship Capability Enhancement Project" aims to strengthen the capacity of businesses, social enterprises, and non-governmental organizations to operate sustainably and create employment opportunities.
