Handong Global University (President Dosoung Choi) received a donation of 1 billion won from Bundang Central Church (Senior Pastor Jong Cheon Choi) through the "Cornerstone Scholarship Agreement of Bundang Central Church on the Basis of Humanitarian Practice" held on the 21st, to foster and support future leaders in developing countries.
The Cornerstone Scholarship, which has been operating since the early days of Handong Global University, is a scholarship created for international students. It selects outstanding students from developing countries without financial burden to pursue their studies, providing full tuition, dormitory fees, living expenses, and meal expenses for four years. The scholarship, named Cornerstone, symbolizes setting up graduates, who return to their home countries, as Christian leaders who will change their countries. Senior Pastor Jong Cheon Choi of Bundang Central Church, established as the first church in Bundang, decided to cooperate with Handong Global University to practice a vision of a church, which is ,’Understanding History and Society, Nurturing Individuals, and Changing the world.
In 2012, Handong Global University visited Bundang Central Church and proposed a plan for a scholarship for third-world international students for humanitarian practice. At that time, the church promised to sponsor the scholarship through land sales. Recently, the promised land was sold, and after 10 years, the scholarship donation was realized.
President Dosoung Choi said, "The image that Handong Global University pursues as a global university is to practice a vision of learning from and serving needed areas, not only in North America and Europe but also in the third world. The Cornerstone Scholarship was created to educate international students with a vision to return to their home countries, serve their countries and regions, and set them up as leaders who change the world. I would like to thank Bundang Central Church for their valuable ministry."
Senior Pastor Jong Cheon Choi said, "For 10 long years, we have made efforts at the church with a goal of not giving up, keeping promises, and realizing what we have said. I am pleased that Handong Global University and Bundang Central Church have confirmed the same heart in raising one person who will change the world."

"It was difficult to study with a Christian identity in Indonesia, where over 90% of the population is Muslim. However, fortunately, I was able to enter Handong Global University as a Cornerstone scholarship student and grow in a good educational environment without financial difficulties. I am grateful for the support I received over the past four years."
Handong Global University boasts of being a global university, with students from 60 countries around the world forming a global community on campus.
