Performing Arts
Zizzy
Engaged in dance performances, Zizzy creates cheerful spirits in Handong community as well as outside of the campus as a voluntary service in the villages.
Handong Orchestra
Handong Orchestra is the club that the string music club (Soloists) and the pipe music club (Winds) has generated. We engage in street music performances, and also perform in various regular events.
MIC (Motion in Christ)
Since 1996, MIC’s become famous for its passionate gospel ministry through spectacular dance performances. MIC’s cultural exchange in Thailand is well-known on and off the campus. It is also a part of MNT(Mission and Talent).
Han Pung
Our members are passionate learners of the Korean traditional music instruments. We use these music instruments as a means to praise the Lord, spread the gospel, and serve our communities.
Amazing Story
Amazing Story began in September 1997. The club performs one or two plays each semester. The club invites students with passion who desire to set the framework and message for plays to join us.
Ha-Hyang
Ha-Hyang means ‘the dance toward heaven.’ Its dance genre is Korean traditional dance that is performed to reach out to other nations on several mission trips.
Great Order (G.O.)
Its name is borrowed from the Bible. Matthew 28:19-20 talks about Jesus’ Great Order to go to the world. Following the order of the Lord, we use worship dance as our main tool to worship God and to spread the gospel.
Pitch Pipe
Pitch Pipe is named after the instrument that sets the first note of each song. We serve the Lord and several communities by performing A Capella, and gospel songs.
Reverie
Reverie is a group of people who have a passion for playing the guitar. We hold several guitar performances at various occasions such as: HANST(Handong Spiritual Training), Festival week, other independent activities and social services.
NEO
The specialty of NEO is that we write and compose songs by ourselves. We reach out to outside communities by our street performances.
Girls Accappella
We only use our voices to sing and create all the accompanying music. The club is composed of only young women.
HaLLu
This club is distinguishable from every other performance club in Handong. All students who are fascinated with magic are welcome to join us.
Soul
The goal of this club is to serve the deaf through learning sign language. We communicate with these people to show them the love of the Lord and spread the good news of the gospel.
Ggun-Dle
There have been more than 40 plays performed by the club so far. The members are full of talent and spirit.
Dunamis
This singing club is composed of only men to generate the unique sounds of men. The wide range of genres used in this club are trios, duets, acapella, CCM, Black Spirituals and sometimes something new!
Liquid
Liquid musicians engage in street performances, university festivals, POP(Passion of Pohang) and several other events. As part of MNT(Mission and Talent), we go on mission trips, and also hold prayer meetings.
Mir
Mir has two parts: Metal band music and Rock band music. We encourage students who love band music in both Rock and Metal to join us.
Exhibition Arts
Canvas
Beginning with the establishment of Handong, this club has been helping students to share creative ideas to produce great art work. We hold art exhibitions twice a year.
HAC (Handong Animation Club)
Handong’s only animation club has hundreds of comic books in its room. We are well known for exploring Japanese and Korean culture through playing board games, watching animations, or reading comic books.
VAM (Visaul Artist Maniac)
The members of VAM gather together to study and share their information about photography once a week. We occasionally take a trip to take nice pictures.
Sports Clubs
Holy Rams
Holy Rams is the American Football club and we have four football practices every week. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) Holy Rams won victories in several matches as representatives of Handong.
Armstrong
Armstrong, which is the only marine sports club in Handong, is a boat club. Since the club was established, we have been setting great records in several rowing races.
H. Milan
H. Milan is named after the famous soccer club, Millan, in Italy. H. Milan is the oldest soccer club in Handong and we participate in several soccer matches with Korean universities as the representatives of Handong.
HOOPS
SFC is a group of people who are learning about the Bible by studying the widely held Church doctrines such as the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Heidelberg Catechism. We also hold QT meetings every morning and prayer meetings every Sunday.
Hanbang Swings
Hanbang Swings is the only baseball club in Handong. We participate in several baseball leagues.
Cheon-Poong-Hae-Sae
The club members are passionate learners of Taekwondo and we use Taekwondo as a means to praise the Lord and spread the gospel in Thailand, Laos, and Bangladesh every summer and winter vacation. We practice Taekwondo twice a week.
Smash
Smash is a group of people who are interested in table tennis. We welcome beginners. Please do not hesitate to apply even if you do not have a racket or other table tennis item.
Grand Slam
Grand Slam is the only tennis club in Handong. We meet once a week to train before we participate in several tennis tournaments.
Christian Groups
CCC (Campus Crusade for Chirst)
CCC holds chapel twice a week. One service is with the CCC members from other colleges in Pohang. We gather together every morning to worship God.
IVF (Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship)
IVF is a Christian club which aims to evangelize the college campus. We preach the gospel to our friends on campus and form small groups to study the Bible. We hold Daily Prayer Meetings, Large Group Meetings and Missions Small groups.
Prayer Meeting for North Korea
Since 1998, we have been gathering to study North Korea and pray for reunification. In Handong, we try to connect North Korean and South Korean students by holding conferences and parties to introduce North Korean’s politics, economics, culture, and social structure.

Academic Clubs
Reformist Book Reading Club
This reading club is focused on reading classical books of Christianity, especially books written by the reformers who led Protestantism. We read three to five books per semester and we hold several academic conferences and lectures focusing on the ‘integration of faith and learning’, which is Handong’s slogan.
DUDUS
Its name is borrowed from the Bible, Psalm 19:2: Day Unto Day Utters Speech. We study about creation-science and hold an academic conference each year based on what we have learned. Also, we host a Creation Science Camp for young people to provide an opportunity for them to learn about the creation of God.
Pentong
Pentong is a group of people whose passion is to appreciate and create literature. We collect the members’ writings and occasionally publish our works. We also present an exhibition of illustrated poems.
Computer Clubs
Linux Hackers
Within this club, we form several teams to study Linux, develop mobile applications, webpages, and embedded machines.
Seul-ki Jjaki
This is a group of people who are interested in developing mobile applications, PC games, and other programs that are useful for everyday life.
CRA
We form groups to study C-programming and Java, which are offered in our college and we also develop mobile applications and study image recognition. One of our achievements was the development of the Intranet page of Handong University (i7).
GHOST
This club is established to study computer networks, security programs to prevent hacking and to develop all sorts of software programs. We developed a representative application for Handong University and we are participating in various national contests with computer clubs from other colleges.
Social Service Clubs
Giving Tree
Giving Tree manages the store to assist foreign students and participate in social services. Our main project is receiving donations (clothes for example) and selling those at fairly low prices to help our neighbors in need such as foreign workers or people who are suffering from financial problems.
Peace Makers
We are ‘peace educators’ in the middle schools located in Pohang and we are mentors for the children in orphanages. Likewise, our tasks are expanding. We are looking for peacemakers who actively find people in need and design projects for them.
Liberty School
Liberty School is the government-designated alternative high school to help students who could not finish the regular school curriculum. The students in Handong are teachers and managers of Liberty School.
The Foundation for Preventing Youth Violence
FPUV is a NGO started by a father who lost his only son due to bullying at school. He founded FPUV to have campaigns to prevent school violence in hopes of eliminating more victims of school violence. We hold campaigns and several programs for middle school students to prevent school violence and we also set up mentoring programs for victims of school violence.
